Texas Accessibility Academy
The Texas Accessibility Academy is a comprehensive study of the Texas Architectural Barriers Act (TABA), Architectural Barriers Administrative Rules, and the Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS). Attendees will also receive general information about how the TABA and TAS relate to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG).
The 3-day Texas Accessibility Academy will be presented May 21-23, 2013 at the 21st Building Professional Institute (BPI) conference to be held at the University of Texas at Arlington. Interested persons must register with BPI online at www.BPI-TX.com. Only BPI will be accepting registrations and the payment of fees for the Arlington Academy, therefore, please direct all questions associated with this presentation to BPI at 817-272-3701.
Attendance at the Academy requires pre-registration. The Registration Form (120kb PDF) must be accompanied by the $150.00 tuition fee prior to the TAA to reserve attendance. TDLR does not accept credit cards at this time for the TAA.

The Texas Accessibility Academy sessions in Austin will be held at 1106 Clayton Lane, Suite 125E.
The Academy is required for people seeking departmental certification as a Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS). Additional information about RAS qualifications and requirements is provided in Architectural Barriers Administrative Rule 68.70. The RAS examination is not administered at the TAA nor does the TAA include a study of RAS Procedures and processes.
TDLR is a recognized continuing education provider for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and AIA members earn 24 CEUs for attending the TAA.
