List of registered Continuing Education providers and courses for Water Well Drillers and Pump Installers

TDLR is updating the content and format of its sample PowerPoint continuing education course presentation. If you have a previously-approved WWD/PI course based on this sample, please update the course material according to the course application instructions. Note the requirements for a complete course application: application form, application fee, timed topic outline specifying the selected sections of both the law and rules and/or other content, and appropriate copies of course materials.

The Water Well Driller and Pump Installers Administrative Rules, Chapter 76, were updated with adopted admendments on October 18, 2006 and became effective December 1, 2006. These adopted admendments, new rules, and repeals update statutory references and bring rule requirements more in line with state and federal law. In addition, the rule changes reorganize certain provisions for greater clarity and readability and delete unnecessary provisions. The rule adoption also added continuing education requirements that are consistent with 16 TAC Chapter 59 regarding continuing education and continuing education providers and courses.

A licensee is to complete four hours of continuing education in Department-approved courses to renew a license. The continuing education hours must include one hour of instruction in Water Well Driller/Pump Installer statutes and rules, three hours of instruction in topics directly related to the water well industry, including but not limited to well and water well pump standards, geologic characteristics of the state, state groundwater laws and related regulations, well construction and pump installation practices and techniques, health and safety, environmental proctection, technological advances, or business practices.

An apprentice must complete a one (1) hour department-approved continuing education course dedicated to the Water Well Driller/Pump Installer statutes and rules.

Each year the provider must renew their registration in order to offer continuing education courses. Course approvals are valid for periods of one (1) year, assuming the provider's approval remains current throughout that time.

New continuing education courses must be approved by the Department before being offered. The provider will need to submit a course approval application prior to scheduling any courses/seminars, a timed topic outline, the course material and the required course approval fee.
