Licensed Court Interpreters
The Licensed Court Interpreter Advisory Board is scheduled to meet on Friday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the 1st Floor Public Meeting Room of TDLR's North Campus Building, located at 1106 Clayton Lane in Austin. When the agenda is ready it will be posted on TDLR's web site. The meeting will be broadcast live and available for viewing via RealPlayer.
Here are the public comments on general topics received during the 2012 Strategic Planning process. The comments are grouped as answers to the four questions we based our discussions on.
- What are we doing well?
- What can we do better?
- If you could change one service that we provide or eliminate or amend any provision of TDLR’s statutes or rules, what would it be?
- What major changes will occur over the next five years that will impact the way you do business and the services we provide?

The Licensed Court Interpreter Advisory Board met April 13 in Austin. The agenda is available online. The meeting was archived and is available for viewing in RealPlayer.
TDLR proposes amendments to existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 80, §§80.20, and 80.80 regarding the Licensed Court Interpreters program. These proposed rule changes are necessary to create a mandatory pre-test orientation course and establish fees for the upgrade to Master Designation license application.
The proposed amendments were published in the December 2, 2011, issue of the Texas Register (36 TexReg 8125). The deadline for receipt of public comments in response to the rule proposal was originally set for January 2, 2012. The Department is extending the comment period until February 27, 2012. TDLR encourages all persons interested in the regulation of licensed court interpreters to review the rule proposal.
Replacement License - The change from House Bill 4445 creates two license designations, a basic license and a master license. If you currently hold an active court interpreter license, you will be issued a replacement license with the designation of "Master" on or before August 30, 2011. This license will be issued at no cost to you so that your license reflects the new designation. To update your mailing address email the department at CS.Court.Interpreters@license.state.tx.us with your name, license number and current address. You may also call us at (512) 463-6599 or toll free in Texas at (800) 803-9202 to update your address.
TDLR is now accepting online payment for administrative penalties.
